I’m waiting for a heart that never lies
My skin flaking grey with deep desire
A sparkle of hope in mine own eyes
Caked with dry tears, of this hurt I tire
Rocking slowly back and forth, I ponder
Surrounded by monotony devoid of wonder
A snatch of passion in this life turned grey
Waiting for you, the sun, to warm this cold day
To be worthy of your love, I thought I could be once
Potent and strong, I thought I couldn’t die without you
But I was weak; at every chance I withdrew
Every ounce of strength I had beat in transience
Withering away, sad and alone
I mourn the love I’ll never call my own.
Author notes
I used the Pushkin sonnet form. It was fun ^_^

This is an awesome poem. I love the imagery. I know the feeling of never finding that one love to call your own for life. I am 29 and still haven't found that special one. Enjoyed the read! Thank you for entering my contest.

Hmmmm... This style looks very familiar. I must know you. It is well written at first reading. To the finalist list!
