of inner reflections,
careful not to ripple
the reality of who I am.
The clear image I see
is not really accurate,
as cloudy edges hide
my darkest thoughts,
my inner fears.
I bare all for honest insight,
uncovering truths hidden deep
so that I may see the scars,
trace the lessons learned,
etched deep within my soul.
The waters swell
scattering memories afar
never to be replaced,
as I face myself
and the path of my future.

Hello Aboomer.
This is an insightful write. What a person is, and what they think they are can be completely different things, and that has been shown by the cloudy edges to an extent. However what has been suggested is that you would know part of your thoughts and fears, whereas that is true in some situations, the deepest is the ones you have convinced yourself do not exist, are not you, and so in essense it would need someone who either doesnt know you, but is highly perceptive amongst other things, or someone who does know you but isn't themselves clouded by knowing you.
If in fact we refer to the shadow self, then more than likely a person has absolutely no idea what its makeup is, and it is only seen as a projection and deflection onto others, which is why you get the same type of people again and again in one's life, as a projection of themselves. Or the few who have made a choice to be in the moment, and look for all lessons and indeed their darker self, that is present in the people and situations not to our liking.
So anybody you don't like is a external projection of trait or traits, and by breaking the link between the two, which allows us to deny responsibility of the 'us' we can not face. Anyway I am going off on one now, ahahha. Another insightful write is the lessons that come from living; hoping to see where we lack, and how we can progress further.
My regards.

I think we all prob. feel like this when we see our reflection - that the reflection doesn't really show who we are.

You paint a clear picture in the first two stanzas. I can see myself standing over the water myself looking down, and to anybody else it would seem to be a perfect representation of myself, but I would know the truth inside. Well done, well said, thanks for sharing.

I think, probably, we all feel this way when we look at our reflections - that the reflection doesn't really show who we are.
