Silently she stalks along
Watching her victim lie about
Her heart beat speeds up
From the excitement of the fun
Crouching on the ground
Inching slowly closer
Eyes watching intently
As her tail slowly moves
The object is within reach
but it does not move and inch
She seizes the opportunity
And pounces with all her might
Grabbing it in her mouth
She shakes it with might
Never letting it go
She takes off
Running back home
Stretching her legs out gallantly
As she approaches
She pounces once again
Giggles erupt from the small girl
As the puppy licks her face
Rolling around in the grass
Building up messy stains
Getting up and dusting off
She throws the ball again
Her faithful dog takes off
Ready to pounce once again
Author notes
I chose option #3
I thought it would be cute to have a puppy tackle a little girl. It brings a smile to my face

well that is what they do. how pleasant that many simple things can be delightful and fun to enjoy. The best things in life are free, so I have heard.

This one definitely made me smile. You really had me going there. Looks like a movie trailer for a suspense film or horror film, before we find out it's a comedy. Nice work, Jill.

What's interesting is I kept thinking of a female cat stalking prey up until the near-end! This is a fun, delightful romp off the prompt and very fitting to it I think. I agree that the puppy tackling a little girl makes one smile. Thanks for entering and good luck in the contest!
