He's dodging bullets
And is hated by people who he doesn't even know
But fighting for his country is important
So he swallows his pride and gains courage
To fight for what is ours overseas
During the day he takes cover
Drives a military hummer
Shoots at people who created this mess
And is honored by his soldiers
Revered by his friends
And missed by his family
While his father is extremely proud of the man he's become
But every night
He holds his daughter's picture tight
And cries louder then the artilary
And is hated by people who he doesn't even know
But fighting for his country is important
So he swallows his pride and gains courage
To fight for what is ours overseas
During the day he takes cover
Drives a military hummer
Shoots at people who created this mess
And is honored by his soldiers
Revered by his friends
And missed by his family
While his father is extremely proud of the man he's become
But every night
He holds his daughter's picture tight
And cries louder then the artilary

This is about my father....he just got out of the military....he went to Afghanistan and Iraq and he said there wasn't one day he was there that he didn't think about the ones he loved....we were his reason to live

I know alot of us in the military, at least the ones I know, do it this for our family. I know the desire just to see my family and friends again got me through boot camp, MCT, and my first job school. It is what keeps us going. I know that being away from your loved ones is probably the hardest part about being in the military, especially when you can be deployed at any second. Good job, and good luck in the contest.
