Twas last summertime bright and clear
A poets words fondled with mine ear
His sweet tender words put together in rhyme
Set afire this heart of mine
And fantasies of divine chatter
Came crashing down with ultimate clatter
For that genius poet Elijah Gray
Talked for a while - then went away...
To the quintisential Gypsy Rover
An American dream, in fields of clover
Images of romantic dreams
Faded away to nothing it seems
His words ended and left me yearning
No goodbye, nor "see ya...", and no warning
Curse and Damn Elijah Gray...
Here yesterday...and gone today
Wordy and alone I sit and ponder
Where didst thou poet wander?
No details nothing not a word
At least not one that I heard
Maybe he doesn't want a friend
At least not me, its at an end...
I wonder why he went away...
Silently ... Elijah Gray...
A year went by and I forgot
Expecting to hear from him I was not
Then suddenly out of the blue
"Hello.. hello and how are you?"
Is he back and could it be?
Is he really talking to me?
And all was brighter no longer dark
Elijah Gray had at last come back
We'll talk awhile and don't you know it
He'll once again be the worlds best poet
A week or two thats all we'll get
But he'll be off again I'll bet
Beguiling us with words divine
He won't be yours, he won't be mine
He'll stay awhile then go away
Our wonderful poet.. Elijah Gray.
Author notes
Totally sucking up to Elijah - hope he doesn't mind.. haha...
The picture is of Elijah the Tishbite being taken up into heaven on a chariot of fire.
Please tell me what you think

To My dearest
Your provocations stimulate a much necessary return. Be patient, for the truth will soon be upon you for all the others to see.
