My Guardian Angel

You were my best friend
my favorite cousin
we played together constantly

whether it was going out
on the jet-skis
or going to drive in movies
we were always together

you were a year older than me
but it never mattered cause
we still had alot of fun
every time we were together

then in 2002 we got a phone call
from your grandma saying that
you weren't doing too good

you were in the hospital
and no one knew what was wrong
just that you were very sick

your lungs had failed
and you were going to die
you were on the waiting list
for new lungs

we were all so scared
and cried for days
finally in the year 2004
after being on oxygen for
two years they decided that
it was safe for your parents
to give you one of each of theirs

but even though you got the lungs
you still had to be on oxygen
for a while

then you were in
the hospital it seemed
like every other month
because you just kept gettting
worse and worse
nothing was helping

you ended up being diagnosed
with skin cancer which
was just one more health
problem that you had to deal with

So they kept you in the hosptal
for almost eight weeks
then one day,
April 11th to be exact,
we got this horrifying phone call
saying that you had passed away,

your funeral was that weekend
and we were going,
when I saw you Jackie,
I honestly didn't even
recognize you

With all of the medications
and the water you retained
you gained so much weight
and you looked so different
but in my heart
I knew that it was you

I miss you so much Jackie
and it hurts me so much inside
to know that it ended this way
I love you with all
my heart you are and
will be forever my
Gaurdian Angel
