Political Bloodsuckers

Vampiric tendencies translate into political manoeuvring,
Incisors gnashing as hopes lifeblood is sucked away!
Attired in dusty robes woven from broken promises,
So they stand on their foundations of worthless words.
Mammon can shout louder than any human voices,
Engorged and dribbling its dollars
upon the greedy.

Those in greatest need, powerless against the tide,

As a once great nation sells its birthright for a McDonalds.

Images and idols of technology have usurped morality,

Worship now reserved only for illusions of success.

Author notes

OK, here are some thoughts about the state of a nation which can also be applied outside of the US. Not sure if it works but here it is

That is what I am talking about! Govern the government if only by words, SPEAK OUT! Stand up and fight with every dying word. I feel the same way, most of the time. Great poem, from the first line to the last.

Very interesting and thought provoking piece here. The word play was just fantastic and very funny in places lol.
    My favourite part:
"Vampiric tendencies translate into political manoeuvring,
Incisors gnashing as hopes lifeblood is sucked away!"

It set the poem off to a perfect start.
    Great job.

The imagery in this poem was awesomely written. I liked how you took a new stand on politics, and how you compared them to vampires. You took the concept and proved it in well worded sentences. There was one spelling error, but other than that, I didn't see anything else wrong with it. This deserved the trophy it got, for it was well worth mentioning. Great job.

Great write and you are right when, in the AN, you said it can be applied outside the US. Even Australia has some crap polititions! A lot of them actually... Brilliant work!

    This reminds me of a joke i once heard;
    The dictionary definition of politics.
    Politics:
    Poly - Many
    Tics - blood sucking parasites
Haha. That one never left me.
Really well done. A non-bashing (sort of) way of portraying your opinion.

Absolutely true my friend. The truth in this speaks volumes here. At the end of the day, politicians are just that: Political Bloodsuckers. Those in need, can forget their rights, when politicians fight for the rich and each other.

Good luck in the contest my friend
