As the years drift on by
It’s a continual heartfelt sigh
The thoughts that come through thick and fast
Wondering how we could have changed the past
Wondering about the way he’d look now
Helps me to get through somehow
I think about the hopes and dreams I had
Of things he would do as a lad
I smile now, he is with me always
As it’s in my heart that he stays
The brightest star, to me, my son
Never alone in heaven, He’s with my mum
I feel his kiss on a gentle breeze
It whistles softly through the trees
On the days there is a lovely calm
I feel his warmth like a touch on my arm
Birthdays, Christmas and Easter too
Know that your child’s with you in all that you do
As the years pass on, your acceptance grows
The sorrows still there but it doesn’t show
My sons been gone for nearly six years
But at special times he’s remembered with tears
I still love him more than I did even then
And know that in heaven I will see him again
Author notes
This is for Dale, My son who has been gone for nearly six years now.
Know that even when our lost children are not here in body they are always here deep within our hearts.

ahhh this such a sweet dedication to your son. I can't even fathom the sunken feeling it would be to lose someone so close to you. Thank you for sharing and what a reunion it will be in heaven to see him again. Good luck in the contest and keep writing.
Lots of love,
Charley

Your poem is just beautiful and the words touch my heart. I know that Chloe is being held in my mothers arms too and that helps a lot. Thanks for posting in my contest.

Outstanding
My heart goes out to you after reading this excellent poem. Not an easy subject to write about. Truly a mixture of emotions and plenty of thoughts to ponder on. Don
