With each stroke of pencil to paper
I lovingly attempt capturing your likeness ~
my eyes observing every detail,
yet I can only hope to do you justice
Emerald eyes, filled with love and sorrow,
my heart quickens as I fall into them again.
Luscious red hair cascading down ~
a detail lacking in a sketched portrait
The gentle curve of your lips
draws me in, and again I want to taste.
Around your neck a butterfly,
symbol of beauty surviving abuse' cocoon.
My Beloved, you are my muse,
my inspiration for art, music and words ~
I treasure you, a true blessing...
You are my Lifetime, and I so love you
so very much.

While I enjoy doing the contests on this site, there are times I just wish to honor my Beloved "just because" ~ I do love her so dearly and I live every moment for her happiness. And yes, I also did the portrait!

Your words are so beautiful and emotive that I could feel the love flowing strongly behind them I love the portrait and the poem is ike the finishing touch the only thing I would point out for revision is that there is a double space before the word abuse - was that intentional? Other than that though - this is a sweet love poem and I'm glad that you both have found such pure love

Being an artist/ writer myself I enjoyed this immensely. You captured the love you feel for her with genuinity as well as creativity. This didn't sound overly dramatic or sappy like some love poems do, and I applaud you for that. My favorite line= "My heart quickens as I fall to them again". What a great little moment in there where you stopped to observe yourself in reaction to her. Lovely poem, and lovely portrait too. Good Job!
