The Colonel's Club

I left my shoes once
on a club floor
after midnight.

They were my favorite
red suede shoes, at the time.

And their souls rest
in the memory
of what once was
under the underpass

but has been replaced
by a new club
on top of old bones
and the soles of
my red shoes.

This was an interesting and thoughtful take on the prompt. It made me think of the old time capsules we buried as teenagers... well, back in MY day anyway. Lovely job. Thank you for sharing this with me and best wishes to you in all of your endeavors. Keep that quill dipped in ink and ever ready for use dear poet. Good luck in the contest!

All in the name of progress I take it. Change happens all the time, and even these little lovely red shoes are part of that.
