Symbols drawn upon my skin
I did not ask to bear this pain
Yet as the tattoo grows I understand
and lose myself in feelings
the loss experienced by so many
given to me, deaths only I can forgive
By bearing this stain of holly
snakes that twine across my skin
biting deeper, burning in
I try to keep my thoughts from him
we should have never met
I must keep my eyes unclouded
There must be no remembrance
to break my forever sleep
but still I wish for one more glimpse
The contours of your face
your eyes lost in mine
It must not happen, forbidden for a reason
I tattoo over this longing
and try to forget by burying you in pain

"biting deeper, burning in
I try to keep my thoughts from him"
Woah, it started rhyming.
I like how you describe the tattoo as a living thing. It brings strength to your poem. If you had just described it like 'there's holly, and snakes' then I would've gotten no meaning from this poem.
Great write!
May your pencil never break!
