The Trait

Forgive and forget isn't easy
that's where imperfection comes in,
we humans are not perfect species
not easy to skirt around sin.

To find inner peace takes a lifetime
not everyone finds what they seek,
the past can't be locked in a casket
as lips that are sealed need to speak.

Forgiveness requires special courage
involving the shedding of pride,
a trait not that easy to swallow
is something we find hard to hide.

Until olive branches are offered
all traces of anger must cease,
to offer the cheek without malice
will prepare us for God's inner peace.

Wow! This is a very http://allpoetry.com/poem/4257255powerful write. I can relate to this as I am having a difficult time forgiving for good. Just when I think I have forgiven, the anger sneaks back in. I love what you have penned here. Here is a link to one I recently wrote concerning forgiveness that you may relate to. Blessings Patty
