Boris Hugged Me & A Kiss, The Reply: Parodies LEIGH HUNT Jenny Kissed Me & Austin DOBSON A Kiss

Boris Hugged Me

Boris hugged me when we met
jumping up outside the Kremlin,
Gorbo-chief who’d love to get
a jump on time, why just stuff that in -
side your hat and, jumping gremlin,
say I’m weary, say I’m sad,
say both ‘News’ and ‘Truth’ forget me,
let doctors say I’m mad, but add
Boris hugged ere Gor-be-got me !

Jenny at the Demonstration

Copper slugged me when we met,
mugging from the coach he’d sat in !
Magistrate, who loves to get
demonstrators jailed, put that in!
Say I fought the Poll Tax fad,
say that “conscience clear” describes me,
say I’m doing time, but add, -
Copper slugged me !

A Kiss – The Reply

I kissed Rose right back
like that, without sorrow,
and a pat on the back
showing on the right track
was my rapid attack
I received on the morrow: -
so why would she pack
and the taxi fare borrow ?

Coppers Killed Me

Coppers killed me when we met,
jumping on the tube I sat in;
Magistrate, who loves to get
treats into your list, put that in !
Say I fought the terror fad,
say that “conscience clear” describes me,
say you’re growing old, don’t add, -
Coppers missed me !

Coppers killed me when we met,
hitting on the seat I sat in;
Acting circumstantial bet
eight hits, three misses, just put that in !
Say I sought no terror fad,
say that “from bombs free” describes me,
say I’m growing cold, don’t add, -
Coppers killed me !

../..

Error wracks me today,
terror tracks you tomorrow,
let it be as it may,
pain from plain clothes turned grey.
Should tomorrow replay
such a savour of sorrow: -
what for you, safe today, -
is in store for tomorrow ?

I could never fire back
like that, without sorrow,
and eight bullets through back
showed after attack
on the Stockwell tube track.
The report on the morrow: -
was on the wrong tack
did from fantasy borrow !

Terror slew me today,
error you risk tomorrow !
Violence came into play
which my life did waylay -
do you share the dismay
at what might come tomorrow ?
There’ll be devil to pay
what excuse will YOU borrow ?

Parodies from Jenny Kissed Me - variations on a theme

Enjoy !

Jenny Kissed Me

Jenny kiss'd me when we met,
Jumping from the chair she sat in;
Time, you thief, who love to get
Sweets into your list, put that in!
Say I'm weary, say I'm sad,
Say that health and wealth have miss'd me,
Say I'm growing old, but add,
Jenny kiss'd me.

James Henry LEIGH HUNT 1784_1859

A Kiss

Rose kissed me today,
will she kiss me tomorrow?
let it be as it may,
Rose kissed me today.
But the pleasure gives way
to a savour of sorrow: -
Rose kissed me today, -
will she kiss me tomorrow?

A Kiss

Rose kissed me to-day,
who will kiss her tomorrow?
That’s always the way, -
when she kisses to-day,
I ask with dismay
not unmixed with sorrow:
Rose kissed me to-day,
who will kiss her to-morrow? .

Jenny Diss'd Me

Jenny diss'd me when we met,
Slinking from the desk she sat in;
Fate, you freak, who love to get
Break points on your list, put that in!
Say I'm happy, say I'm glad,
Say that wealth and fame have kiss'd me,
Say my stomach's flat, but add,
Jenny diss'd me.

Elvis Kissed Me

'Elvis kissed me once, ' she swears,
sitting in a neon dive
ordering her drinks in pairs.
Two stools down you nurse a beer,
sensing easy pickings here.
'Back in sixty-eight, ' she sighs,
smoothing back her yellow hair.
Teared mascara smears her eyes.
Drawing near, you claim you've met,
offer her a cigarette.
'Call me cheap, ' she sobs, 'or bad,
say that decent men dismissed me,
say I've lost my looks, but add,
Elvis kissed me.'

Such Stuff as Dreams

Jenny kissed me in a dream;
So did Elsie, Lucy, Cora,
Bessie, Gwendolyn, Eupheme,
Alice, Adelaide, and Dora.
Say of honour I'm devoid,
Say mongamy has miss'd me,
But don't say to Dr. Freud
Jenny kiss'd me.

Osculation

Sarah kissed me when we met,
So did Kate and Belle and Dora,
So did Jane and Violet,
Dolly, Claribel, and Flora.
They all liked me pretty well-
And-dear girls-they never hid it.
I don't like to kiss and tell--Still they did it.

Later in the day I met
(And saluted!) Maude and Daisy,
And I also kissed Cozette,
Clara, Julia, Ruth, and Maisie.
Oh! I'm sorry for Leigh Hunt,
I who've had so many, many,
While poor Leigh's one vaunted stunt
Was with Jenny.

Jenny Kissed Me

Jenny kiss'd me when we met,
Jumping from the chair she sat in;
Time, you thief, who love to get
Sweets into your list, put that in !
Say I'm weary, say I'm old,
Say that health and wealth have miss'd me,
Say I've had a filthy cold
Since Jenny kiss'd me.

Johnny Whack'd Me

Johnny whack'd me when we split,
Springing from the couch he sprawled on.
Copper, are you worth a shit
If you don't come when you're called on ?
Say I'm battered, say I'm sore,
Say that SOB attacked me,
Say I'm mad, and furthermore,
Johnny whack'd me.

Keep those parodies coming. I always enjoy them; it seems the Leigh Hunt has lent itself to parody ever since he wrote it.

You have added to the collection quite nicely and in a topical way.

    Thanks for your entry.
  • These are all just too funny. What a refreshing little trip down memory lane.
