Children Of God

We are the children of a Higher Power,
we must choose to live life right,
we may not be perfect in what we do and say,
we can only do our best to walk in God's light.

We came from a pre-mortal existence,
born into a world where life is a test,
on earth to prove ourselves worthy to return
to a loving God after our earthly quest.

We can make a difference in the lives of others,
we are a tool in God's hands,
we were created in His image,
there's not many of us that understands.

It's normal to question who we are,
we are descendants of Adam and Eve,
it all began with the fall of Adam,
some of us differ in what we believe.

We should love others no matter what they choose
and love ourselves without much pride,
follow the example of Jesus Christ
and with faith He will help you to abide.

    Christian only

    Hi,

Thanks for enerting. Your peom reads allot like a song lyric for which I think it would be better suited.

I think that as a poet, you are in serious danger of alienating your non- christian readers. You make it sound as though you are one of the few who 'understands' which immediatley sets you apart from your readers. Even if you think you do understand God more than your fellow man, it will never help or please anyone to hear it.

It would be interesting to see your words paint bigger, more colouful pictures using analogies and imagery.

The world is such a fantastic, awsome mystery which the poet might capture breifly, in words that may stir deep emotions in the reader.

I hope these comments will be pratical in improving on your poetry.

    Thanks for entering my contest.
