I lie here all alone
As slumber takes its hold of me
I know he'll be here soon.
He drifts into my memory
Between the dusk and dawn
And every night he lingers
And then we travel on
In the golden sunrise
He's always on my mind
Within a crowd ~
I'll see a smile
He seems to stand behind
A ghost of my existence
A shadow from the past
Aglow with true emotion
The warmth of love at last
He mirrors my reflection
My heart's an open door
And when my journey's ended
He'll be mine for evermore
I know I love him deeply
It's the end of hide and seek
And where I go ... I'll always know
His heart is mine to keep
A ghost of my existence
A shadow from the past
Aglow with true emotion
The warmth of love at last ...

Author notes
My poem was created by sensing that 'we are never alone' and even though that 'special someone' is not present ... their spirit of love is always there to embrace us! Believe! joy
This poem was set to soothing music by Bill Hansen of the "Clearwater Connection" and recorded under the title "The Warmth of Love" on their "Timeless" album.

Your poem was put to music? How cool! Will go follow the link in a minute. A nice way to approach the problem of distance and hopefully that bond can travel beyond the mortal plane, that would be comforting to know. I'd certainly like to believe that love (in whatever form) was eternal.

This literally brought tears to my eyes. It's such a beautiful way to share that special love you had for him. I see gold gleaming in your future.
