Waking with sun spattering leaves
on white linen, cool satin stroke
of a sighful turn
clear cut eyelet mirroring
a double-negative in repose
waiting for dawn to dot
its shadows with a soulful exhalation
cheek on Egyptian count
speaking in tongues
that kind of favorite

A great getting up you describe - both soulful and "sighful" where magic can happen... then your underscoring with "that kind of favorite."

Beautiful sense of grace in word and image so this reader is left with feelings aswirl as if he has been gifted with a dance that brought flight to his heart.

This poem shows just why dawn is my favourite time of day. What a lovey poem, Carol; what a great way to wake up - just like this.
Lovely - thank you for this entry.

Masterpiece, as always, gf. Best metaphor (to me in verse) "cheek on Egyptian count speaking in tongues" You verbally paint the shadows of dawn's images on your beautiful white linen. So deep.

Hi Carol....
this is so beautiful - my favorite kind of morning to wake up to, as well...
