Ride the Wind

Silly hope once took my mind
and gave the most hypnotic kiss.
Endless boundaries sank below,
as I went flying in the bliss.

Blasts of color tapped the air
and left a tone of stunning glow.
Brightness had reformed my eyes;
while holding on, I still let go.

Castles in the oddest niche;
bubbles breezing through the light.
Clenching, sneaky, gentle dreams;
the angels spared me from the fright.

Soaring spirits traveled high,
as I breathed in the mighty flame.
Wind that whizzed around my head
was youth that played the perfect game.

Lost within a sea of sky --
now these clouds secrete the ground.
Innocence engulfs my lungs
and hopes that I am never found.

Author notes

The inspiration for this piece was the following quote:
"If You Could Ride The Wind, Breath The Fire, and Drink The Earth" ~ innocence forgotten.

The quote immediately made me think about youth, so I decided to write a piece focusing on imagery and innocence. I took the kid inside of me and launched him into the sky.
