They say it's rather valuable
A treasure to behold
To me it's very precious
It's worth much more than gold.
Although it's made of silver
It's face is stern and cold
It's quite ugly in a fashion
And over seventy five years old.
It retains a hidden beauty
A memory fond and true
And when I hold it in my hand
The memories push right through.
It ticked in perfect rhythm
A gift from overland
From father to his loving son
A masterpiece from Switzerland.
To me you see it's priceless
And no we'll never part
For it slept inside the top pocket
So close to my old Grandpa's heart.
Author notes
My Grandpa's pocket watch... left to me when he died.

This is such a sweet story. I loved the imagery and flow to it also. I think it must be personal to be so sweet and from the heart

Ah, good poem. It is so rich with emotion and description. I love the story about how it came from Switzerland, and was passed along from grandfather to father and finally to you. A wonderful read.
