It is winter on your home world.
The cold chills me to my very bones.
Yet watching you as you frolic in the snow
warms me to my very Soul.
You stand covered in snow
wet hair plastered against your head
heartily waving at me to come and play.
I shake my head emphatically no.
Your eyes narrow
then widen innocently as you turn your back.
Whack.
A snow ball hits you between the shoulders.
You laugh in glee
as you pick up some snow of your own
form a ball
and let it fly
missing your target by a mile.
yet you appear pleased by your attempt
your eyes twinkle with the reflected light against the snow
and of your love of life.
Soon I begin to shiver
as an icy wind cuts through my clothes
and into my flesh
and yet, there you are knee deep in frozen precipitation,
face pink with glee
working on a project of your own making.
It isn’t long
until you stand back and look at what you have made.
A figure made entirely of snow.
Making this snow creature
you have expended more energy
than during a red alert
and though you are warn out
you turn to me seeking a comment.
A compliment, understanding.
You shrug your shoulders
and a wistful smile comes across your face
and I
I shiver.

Very sweet poem about the wonders of snow and having fun. I hate the stuff myself. Went once and nearly died of pain....This told a beautiful story and I was wondering just who was standing in the background thinking all this. Being a trekker fan, I guessed it was someone from another world seeing this for the first time....or is it someone who just hasn't experienced the dreaded stuff! Regardless, It was a fine write.

Ohh I really liked this one, Though I might just point out that you didn't have something written in your author notes, like I had asked when entering the contest... But still I really liked the imagery.

This is a wonderful imagery filled piece of work!!! It takes my back to my childhood when I played in the snow. Thanks for sharing with me.
