A dark haze of disappointment clouded her blue eyes
She longingly looked out into the distance
He was eager to see him coming from far off
He told her he would come no matter what
How could he possibly just leave her there?
He said that he woud come find her somehow
But promises are made to be broken
And she waited for him to honor it in vain
Silent streams of tears stained her pale face
Her eyes dimmed futher in mounting disappointment
She sat on her windowsill and waited
She saw two young birds flying to a tree
A jealous crow she sat watching as they flew to their nest
A lonely crow she waited still
Clouds of black were gathering in her mind
No one remained true to their promises, not ever
Instead they left her waiting for hollow words to be fulfilled
She sat and watched those happy birds
Singing because they had each other on this beatiful day
The sun was shining brightly outside the window pane
But inside her mind it was pouring rain

It takes a lot of stretching to connect this one to the picture. A well written piece of poetry. I do thank you for entering the contest.

Well when I read the prompt I thought that you wanted me to write how I felt and not about what I saw. I figured that if this picture made me feel like someone who was lonely that I should write about that.
