And the hound lay beneath the shade...

And the hound lay beneath the shade
of twisted bow and nervous leaf,
as moonlight ran cross his ears
pale and benign, as an old mans face.

And the wind whipped through the town
like a horseman's cloak.
And Joy in her pale white gown
the colour of ivory
spent, bent cross a steaming stove,
reduced to a cinderella's fate.
And the hound lay beneath the shade.

And the hound lay beneath the shade
as visions danced beneath his skull;
of placid orchids and open fields
green and brass and glorious, as a victory song.

And the children's skin's are become bruised
from the leather kiss of a belt,
the stains of fatherly love.

sketched on flesh
by a clumsy artist.
And the hound lay beneath the shade.

And the hound lay beneath the shade;
of snow laden bough and frosted birds nest.
As fell the flakes, the tears of angels
white and pure. upon the hounds slumbering nose.

And the hound lay beneath the shade.
dreaming here, as time ticks on

never ending.
