The Real Side

The mask i wear is a good one,
it fools even me.
It knows that it can fool me easily,
and it often does.

The mask doesn't come off ever,
there are sometimes that it does slip.
The mask does a disappearing act and fades away.
I know that it is only matter of time before it happens.

The mask of the girl named Sara,
a rebellious 18 year old girl falls.
The real face of, Rogue Shadow, comes out,
she stays back in the darkness, almost withdrawn away.

This is the side no one ever sees,
No one understands to see why Rogue Shadow never shows herself.
The goth within, that is who you see now,
the ghost of a battered soul named Rogue Shadow.

This is the spirit that inhabits and share space,
longing to be loved by someone that is true.
She knows that the mask of Sara isn't ready for such things,
serious life and commitments.

The real side of this vessel,
Rogue Shadow, she is forever immortal.
Unforunately lonely, battered life she hides,
behind the mask of the 18 year old girl named Sara.

Author notes

this poem basically says what i'm about to explain.

since 2003 i've been writing poetry, and for a time i was the "emo" in the corner and what not. but as i got older i sort of was torn into two sides.

due to mainstream (not my subculture) i had to sort of "fit in" to a point with normal people. so thus i created a split personality unforunately.

yeah it sounds like a mess.... and yeah your right. thought as i have gotten older my two personas have started to merge and thankfully get along.

but there is always that once in a while that one falls and the other comes out stronger than the other.

what do you think?
