i believe.

so i should just give up right? let the technicolor dreams that feed me die in the night?

i should just forget about honor, and nobility, and chivalry, and true love?

let my idealism be replaced by cynicsm and realism?

is it really time to grow up, put childish dreams away, and go with the flow?

should i stop following my heart and just follow?

FUCK YOU !!!

i cant do it.

if that makes me a child chasing shooting stars and pipe dreams, then a child ill be.

this is my truth, I BELIEVE!

Author notes

more a rant than a poem, but meh.

i like this. i feel the same way. everyone keeps telling me to be rational, to get a job that will pay well, to settle down. no one has ever told me to follow my heart.

sometimes i wonder what would happen if i did follow it. have you ever followed yours? if so, what happened?

Hate to argue but it's an emotional well-executed poem.
I'm more than a little envious of the line: "should i stop following my heart and just follow?"
Instead of a stunted child you will be a rounded adult, young at heart with circulating aspirations and dreams.

conviction. nothing wrong with standing by your dreams dear. this miserable world is the illusion. I think you've got it right and everyone else has it wrong in this case.

  • Keep believing, it's when you stop that gets you in trouble. A great little piece.

    Hello.

I totally agree with the sentiments in this piece. Never stop believing in yourself, or in the highest ideals. If absolutely nothing more is gained, you will always have the knowledge that you did the best you could, and will always be able to look yourself in the eye. As for dreams, no one ever tried to make nightmares come true (apart from Freddy Kreuger). Congratulations on the Honourable Trophy.

    My regards.

    Good for you!

Growing old is mandatory, growing 'up' is optional. Don't lose your dreams. People who don't have dreams, don't have much. And no one's a child for having dreams...that's part of the human psyche.
Good job, and best of luck in the contest!
