I learned on the Klickitat
that I did not want to fish
when I was a boy.
However I know
from trips with my grandfather
fishing was good there.
I also learned
of the serenity
within flowing waters.
The river will take
a part of your soul
and it will be soothed.
Reflections of clouds
floating in the ripples
invite simple day dreams.
Lapping currents croon a music
no one knows the words off,
but everyone listens to.
In moments of introspection
you find that peace can be attained there,
even if you can’t fish.
