His eyes went misty
as he remembered
how the orchid she tucked behind her ear
tumbled to the ground
when he sipped
mint julep kisses from her lips
a quiet Kentucky dawn, woke them
from a dew covered dream
he concealed this moment
as he did the mark of her passion
on his white linen suit

A fine memory for the gentleman, their night of passion, waking in the Kentucky dawn, dew covered dreams all leaving its mark.

The title really sets up the story in this...and the sensuality remembered from long ago..I love this....orchards have been around for years..I love the parallel here...

(i think you need an e in gentleman?)

A lovely poem - the opening lines immediately places the reader inside the mood, the nostalgia of this poem. There are indeed memories that make our eyes all misty and soft.
I liked the simplicity of this piece, and the quiet voice here. There is a softness here that really spoke to me. Thank you for this lovely entry. Well done.

I agree with Arzab...this IS beautiful. Nothing more needs to be said. Love, Lane

Beautiful write. I liked the imagery in the part of the eyes. It seemed to describe not only imagery, but a feeling of emotion in the piece, as well. Thanks for sharing and best of luck in the contest.
