What you can't learn in school

I once walked an ice field,
stretching as far as the eye could see.
Insects made sparce,
only by the swamps of the interior.
Land drastically carved by glaciers.
Here, I learned love.

I once walked a desert,
covered in white sand.
Temperatures made mild,
only by the severity of the wind.
Land as old as the earth itself.
Here, I learned wisdom.

I once walked a fine line,
between the known and the wild.
Decisions tempered,
only by the consequences induced.
Land as rough as the choices of life.
Here, I learned balance.

All of this I learned,
in the land of the midnight sun.

  • Beautiful

Nature is the besst teacher...Love the detail, it paints a delicate picture! Its a pretty piece...
Maybe I can find a place similar here in the states

  • Never heard of Nunavut, fun name though.

The world around us, nature, the wild tends to make us see things in perspective sometimes, giving us plenty of room for introspection, hopefully leading to that balance your poem mentioned.

    • I hope you've heard of Canada! Look it up on a map; it's the best place on earth.
