An Angel Passing Through

I should have known when the sun gave you a halo,
That you were just on loan to this place.
I should have guessed I was looking at an angel,
When I saw that sweet smile on your face.

All those days of dreaming and fun,
I thought that they would never have to end-
It could not have been farther from the truth.
I never guessed you were just stopping by, my friend.

I shold consider myself lucky, getting time with an angel.
Those times we had are so special and dear to me,
I don't know what I would do if I did not have them,
Even if I know that you are happy, and you are free.

Those sixteen years that this world got you were blessed,
But now I can't help but be sad that you have gone away.
I guess I am blessed with a angel to watch over me,
And I know that I will see you again -in Heaven- one day.

This is really so sad and I hope that your heart will heal again. You penned such an emotional and lovely piece and I know this type of poems always "needs" a trophy!

It will take some time for your heart to heal. All the best!

Very nice. It is a beautiful poem, and a wonderful tribute, but I'm not so sure it fit the criteria that I gave. The prompt was writing to someone with one hour before you pass on. Still, it is a great poem, well penned, and full of true emotion. Thank you for your entry, and feel free to try again, because this is great, and I'm curious what else you could come up with.
