Because I am Curiously Nosy

When I see a poet who is new to me
I wonder a number of questions,
like, how did you find the site,
and why do you write poetry?

Also, when you say you're a man,
how old is that exactly?

What is your philosophy of life,
what form do you most like to write,
about what type of subjects?
And who first told you that you
could be a writer or a poet?

I have been writing for years
and began writing poetry,
because I am too impatient to write a book
and wanted to say things more quickly.

One day I wrote a poem
that I thought was just alright.
My sister read it and bragged
when she showed it to her friends!

A new experience for me.

Poetry is a  release
of all my negative feelings,
the pain of being raised,
and satisfying sensations.

Do you have faith
and are you quite religious,
or do you just believe we're here
and then we're finished?

I lived in Texas for a few years,
and wonder now where you were
back in the early nineties,
did you live in Austin near the UT campus?

I could ask questions all day
because I am quite nosy,
but most of all I'm curious
about everybody's psyche.

What kind of people make a good friend?
What do you want to have done,
before you lay down for your final rest,
and how do you want to be remembered?

I'm pretty crazy at times,
love love, like to laugh,
and helping others is my favorite thing
(other than children and eating chocolate.)

So as I ask these questions,
am I talking to a nut case
or are you as spiritual as I am?
What do you do to get along
and make yourself stay happy?

Do you believe in the occult? I do.

Guess that's it,
I suppose I'm done
so I will end this poem...
Oh! One more thing.
What's your favorite movie?
I'm just curious.

    Howdy,

I am sory it has taken me so long to get to your offering. Your have my sincerest wishes of regret, life sometimes gets away from us.

    So let's get to it,

I found this site, as a result of hearing my son had begun to share his poetry here. As he knew of my writing from when i was a teenager like him around the same age when I started, we found a bond.

The reason I write is as varied as for you perhaps. Self-expression, release of emotion, ability to say what cannot come easy vocally sometimes. Mainly it keeps me vulnerable and open in my nature as a man, a father, and as someone special to another.

My age, lol. I have no problem revealing I have celebrated 39 winters upon this earth. I was born in December of '68, This year I will turn 40. Life for me has gotten better with the passage of time.

My faith is very important, I am the grandson of a Baptist minister. I was raised in church and always encouraged to be in attendance. My faith has changed as I have achieved wisdom through the passing of time. I believe in God, the one of scripture, the Father of Jesus Christ.

However i do respect the tennants of other faith. I will admit, my opinion of what is a faith and what is not is my choice to make. However it does not relieve me of the responsibility of loving and serving all, that are here upon this plane.

Let me address your question of the occult here, as I believe it fits within these other questions of faith. If by occult, you mean what would be considered dark in nature, contrary to the good of Christianity, i believe in it's existance. For there is not light without darkness, good without evil. I do not subscribe to the practice of anything occultic in nature, however i do believe in your right to do so. I only ask that you give me the same in return.

In the early nineties, I was in the United States Air Force, serving my country overseas in Germany. I served in support of the first Gulf War. So no UT in Austin would not be the place for me as for I am an Aggie from the hallowed hills of Bryan College Station!

What makes for a good friend goes hand in hand with how I want to be remembered. I treasure genuineness alot. I want people to say of me, I was real. Rather they think I failed them in life or pleased them that I was content in my own skin. That I was genuine towards them, as I endeavor to be so for myself.

What do I want to accomplish before my final rest? That is a hard one, a book, own my own land, be a great father, a better grandfather. More then anything I would like to have a successful marriage to a good woman. For when I was married I was too inmature to achieve that.

Am I a nutcase, I think not. Am I spiritual, yes without a doubt. Our beliefs may be different but I sense we are both sincere in them. oes this make sense to you?

How do I make myself stay happy, by being me. By handling adversity as quickly as possible and not entertain drama in my life.

My favorite movie, how about i give more then one, then my favorite? i love Citizen Kane, To kill A Mockingbird, musicals like Oklahoma, then there is Gone With the Wind. Most of all I loved Forest Gump,
for I could relate to that boy.

Thank you for asking in such a way as to make it a pleasing read. Good Luck in Life.

I thank you for such a wonderful answer to my questions! When I asked if you believe in the occult, I should have explained that I believe in active spirits on the earth. There are no dark rituals in my beliefs!
You sound like a very nice man and I hope that you enjoy the site as much as I do.

Oh! To Kill a Mockingbird is one of my favorites too. Very close to the book.

Take care, and I am glad to have met you. ~ Joyce

This bring me a smile. and know why? Because all people are curious. Some will ask some will not, but curiosity built the world. So, if that's make you happy, and if your friends are still alive of your questions go, and write poetry. I am sure that you have a lot of things to write about. I saw that you have many poems posted, many different theme... so... you will never fail. A li'l bit more promotion of your poetry could help you too. Did you ever tried to write a prose? Now I am asking you. Just...you don't ask me... lol

Thanks for the comments. You are very kind. I am interested in a lot of different things, but as I said, I write primarily to vent whatever!
Hmm. Prose. Yes, I do have a tiny bit of that. Good luck finding it though! ~ Joyce
