NARCISSUS
A single narcissus
and a golden girl
briefly bloomed
one week in spring
And who will mourn
this seven-day's end
since, unlike flowers,
memories seldom fade?

flowers
are best not picked but it's so hard to resist picking one. Once picked, how they die and disappoint one. As you say, memories last. However, the water can stink eventually. Depending on the flower of course..!
