you came, made me feel brand new.
But seasons change and so did love,
the sun soon faded in sky above.
Sweet meomories I once held dear,
come rushing back as I sit here.
For just one moment my heart sighs,
but then I begin to realize.
The love we shared is in the past,
your feelings for me did not last.
Sit here in thoughts now bittersweet,
stare across to an empty seat.
We use to share our morning brew,
whisper back and forth, I love you.
You said you had obligations,
were sorry for our sad situation.
Again feelings come rushing in,
well hello love where have you been?
Reality snaps back, as sun comes up,
the waitress pours another cup.

Contest Prompt
You sit down at a little cafe on a lonely stretch of highway - next thing you know, a long lost memory comes in and sits itsself down in your booth, orders a cuppa and stares straight at you. You turn away, look out the window. After a while, you look back at the memory and say...

Wow.
I, personally, can not stand coffee but this almost makes me want to sit down and have a cup with someone just so I may have that memory in life even if the meaning of it all changes in my mind years down the track.
Wonderful write hun
Best of luck

Stay safe
Love you

Very nice write as you remember a love from the past. The Title is an eye catcher too for one who IS a lover of coffee. I was a bit disappointed in that coffee was only referred to, and mentioned only in the title. However it IS implied and coffee is not the main theme of the poem anyway. All in all we had a good stroll down memory lane, and was snapped out of our trance as the waitress pours us another cup of the caffeinated brew.
Thank you Sandy and have a blessed day.

The reader is set for this journey caught in times shared, now past. To step into a memory where a heart was secure and felt loved, to find it will not last as an iced heart is what was left as lives moved beyond each other. Wonderfully penned.

Hello sandy, how have you bin?
sipping some coffee, writing to win
backed off on java, hot lemon for me
mixed with honey, sooo very tasty...
Keeps me thinking, as dreams drift away
thoughts need a boost, of caffine to stay
waking up quickly, fast as a whip
I just hit the shoulder, I'm on a road trip....

PS theres a sad that should be changed to said six lines from bottem

Good Morning Rudy,
It is alwaysd nice to read these little poems.
You do brighten the day and bring a smile. I hope all is well with you.
You take care, Sandy

Please give me my coffee
with just a wee bit of cream.
It helps wake me in morning,
from my lovely sweet dream.
Now tea is quite a tasty drink,
nice with slice of lemon I think.
Half English, half Irish hereditry,
love both my coffee and tea.

I liked your poem.
My hus. and I still do that, 'I love you' across from each other, having a cup. I liked how you used the sun to stand for your love, and the love changing like the seasons. very clever, and realistic. Good luck in the contest.

Superb
Aye, a very fine write, indeed. Imagery, rhythm and rhyme are just fine. I can't remember if you've already reviewed these two poems of mine: Coffee, and

Feelings sade, get rearanged
people change and maybe not knowing. They are growing or sliding back into themself and away form thenself. The push or pull may not be at a good time. Their mind may be into deep. Time may be in a while when you speak the can be pulled from their nothing place. I think we often get wrapped in our troubles and with out the friend in meed we slide down the hole wnd don't know how to stop things or ourself there are oflu a few good times to grab them and stop them with suecess. Being house bond, office, work bound we can easly choke to death, then fall which leads to dailing in life....mac
