Mice have always frightened me,
and I'm sure they always will,
therefore, it will come as no surprise
that my childhood was haunted by them.
We lived in an old house
with woods and corn fields surrounding
and mice were a part
of our daily lives.
Never having been careful
to open cabinets and drawers with care,
one morning I was running late
and grabbed my underwear drawer too quickly.
Out jumped Mickey Mouse and Minnie
without their tiny hats and canes,
jumped out of the drawers
and danced on both my horrified feet.
By the time I realized what was happening
they two had finished their dance and fled
and left me screaming and doing my own silly dance
in a nearly comatose state lying spread out of my bed.

I finally caught the little suckers and ended their reign of terror on my pecans! I just couldn't stand having someone I didn't know nibbling on my nuts..lol. Best of luck in the contest.

This was cute and rather funny yet I am sure at the time or even now if it happened it wouldn't be. Isn't it comical how something like mice can scare us? ♥

-
lol. This is funny pattyann! so glad to see you back on! I have missed you so! Anyway in that case you would probably hate my pets then. I own to male rats and I love them both! Anyway z and I miss you.

lol
very interesting and amusing little story you have penned here. Mice, well I have seen many where humans would never wish them to be.

I kind of like mice, but don't want them crawling on me. The poem takes on a tragic note toward the end and suggests that the entire thing portends more, a metaphor for something bigger in life...those little fears which we allow to control us, overwhelm us, in that sense it is very sad.
