I miss your face
and sparkling eyes
Though they sparkled
with but lies
Your touch so gentle
it poisoned me
Like clouds that choke
the deep blue skies
Now all I hear are melodies
echoing as the songbird dies
And loneliness chews out my heart:
dying flesh for carrion flies
I never believed in angels but
i could've sworn that you had wings,
A halo, and a heart of light
and all else that the bible sings
I know I'm not a charming prince
with wealth, no flame, could ever burn
Nor a muscley handsome hulk
whose smile would make your tummy churn.
I am but me, for all it means
for all it is, for all it seems
And no, I cannot sing or fly,
tap dance all night or bake a pie.
But I can promise this:
that come lightning, rain or fire
Come old age, disease or death
and Hell's ever-lasting pyre
I will smile and hold your hand
Until time and age retire.
Please tell me what you think

This is such a bittersweet love poem. You have captured the emotion and passion so very well.

Though it was a little sad near the end, it was still a beautifully written poem. Lots of emotion and love expressed in this. Wonderful rhyming flow, as well. Thanks for sharing and keep that pen flowing.
