Nature's Gift

Comforting darkness;
rocking silence.
Gentle rhythms
twirling above
glittering waters.

Nature's beauty;
she sings.
Songs of
sweet melodies
upon these
ceaseless winds.

Closed eyes to
see within.
Sounds collide.
And so we sleep...

Author notes

Well... Truth be told I had the idea for this yesterday. The picture finalized it though. I hope you enjoy it.

I hope this makes sense. I was talking a little bit about the circle of life... So the sleep at the end isn't really sleep. I hope I did okay.

    Fantastic, beautiful. I did not connect it to life cycles, choosing to journey upon the words of all entries as opposed to dissecting them.

    A wonderful piece I am pleased to know, this choice will be most difficult...

    Hello Starlight-Owl. Aside from the musical theme, which I like, I also liked the sense that your peice created within me of a mother putting her child to sleep. Comforting, rocking, singing and closed eyes, all helped create it. I know you said that the sleep isn't sleep but the circle of life, or a little about it, but for me it went better as normal sleep. Everything described created a deep peaceful sleep in my mind. My regards.

  • Do I see a recurring theme here?

    The vocabulary falls right in line with your four fifteen rantings! It's not a bad thing - lemme explain simply: it shows, to me, a little piece of how your mind works. A central picture...hmm...how to relate to you what I'm seeing...I know!

    Close your eyes. Imagine you're standing on a cliffside on the shores of Ireland, or the British Isles...wherever you prefer. You look out, watching the mesmerizing movement of the ocean's waves, tossing back and forth upon the crags below. Envision yourself slowly closing your eyes, listening to the enchanting whisper of the wind blowing gently over the rock, up the cliff, and through the grass between your toes...the sounds, as you begin to focus particularly on them, begin to make their own little melody...you open your eyes once more, and the salty air brings you at last to a state of quiet peace under the clear, starry night......

    ...hehe. That was fun.

    Good luck in the contest, and keep writing!

      Yes, you do.

      That's because I used them and reworked them.

      Wow... Show off.

      Thanks. Don't I always.
