Sweet Treason

Maliciously dreaming and carelessly scheming
Outside your closed window the moonlight is gleaming
Sweetly, you reason that this isn't treason
But I'd rather sleep through this hate-filled season

Your words are glittering, their hearts are flittering,
Yet they'll despair when your storm comes with pittering
Your hero is spite, you hide from the light,
You've carved your own pillar and can't reach its height

Through your lies I sift, your morals just drift,
Your spirit's in two, between is a rift
You head your parade, you silently degrade
How long can you keep up this pointless charade?

Author notes

One of my favorite poems that I've written.
