Forest dark and quiet
she met him as promise
knowing their time
would leave her love
expanding on her form.
No longer able to deny
how her heart could burn
for one who wasn't part of their village,
but passion's have a soul to claw at the will.
They spoke of leaving
of finding a world without hate
where a couple could live
absent the cruelty of misunderstanding.
He promised to return to the forest
once he found their paradise,
so she comes each day to the same clearing,
hoping his face she'll once again see.
Family and neighbors give her stern stares
as the life created on that night
continues growing inside,
but she endures it all
clinging to dream
that he'll return to free her from their eyes.
How harsh the world can be
when you see a troll as god,
refusing to let what others think
ruin your dreams of happiness.
