since I could not think this thought without you
do I think this thought at all?

my mind and I have late night conversations
a ritual we began
many years ago
our conversations have reshaped
over the years
or perhaps the years
have reshaped by our conversations;
things are not always clear
but
since my mind and I
have an integral relationship
it seems right only that we should try
together
to clear up the things we can

my mind and I don’t always agree
of course my mind believes he’s always right
although
he doesn’t always say so
he waits sometimes for me to trip over myself
but he never condemns
‘this’
he says
‘is a way to learning’
quicker
he points out sometimes
would be to talk to him before I charge ahead
but
he reflects
it is my life

it confuses me sometimes
just whose life it really is
his
or mine
does my mind exist because of me
or do I exist
because of my mind?
