Crossing the Bar

Sunset and evening star
and one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
when I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out
the boundless deep
   turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,
and after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
when I embark;

For tho’ from out our bourne
of time and place
the flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
when I have crossed the bar.

Author notes

This poem was passed out and my uncle's funeral. I just like to read it whenever I really missed him. I liked this poem..so I just wanted to post it to share.

I still love you and want to have you in whatever way. But it seems that you're happier without me in your life. So I'm resisting the urge to pursue our relationship once again. I'm really sorry for everything that's happened between us though. And hopefully you won't see this for a long time. Maybe I'll have gotten over this by then. I'm sorry, Sarah.

I was about to say: Your poetic style has really changed recently!

This is a great poem -- And I know what it's like to want to hear something to reminisce...For me, it's normally a song.
