The Lesson

Me and my friend we went out to play
just in the garden, on a sun shiny day,
two more friends joined us and said “Watcha doin
why not come with us?” and that was our ruin!

We didn’t ask our Mums, we knew it was wrong
but Tony and Paul were so big and strong,
they were much older so we were alright
we never knew we’d be out half the night.

Off to the woods where the boys had a camp,
some blankets to sit on, although they were damp,
we played hide and seek and lots of fun games,
the boys lit a fire with very large flames.

We sat and told stories some scary, some not,
toasted marshmallows, the time we forgot,
the flames of the fire rose up to the sky,
it was then that we noticed the day had gone by.

The trees were alight but what could we do
we looked at each other, we hadn’t a clue,
the boys pulled down branches and stamped the fire out,
“Our heroes, our heroes”, we started to shout.

They held our hands tightly as homeward we ran
we knew there was trouble and we had no plan,
ordered inside and sent off to our beds,
with thoughts of brave heroes alive in our heads

I had no idea you are a story teller too. This is a wonderful rhyming quatrain and it captured my interest right from the start.

    Love,
    Amera♥

Loved it Sue! Anytime evil young girls and innocent guys (!) get together there's going to be trouble....
