Five little monkeys
swinging in the trees
one fell over
and bumped his knees.
"Oh dear!" said the monkey
and off he sped
to get better soon
in his nice warm bed.
Four little monkeys
swinging high and low
one fell over
and bumped his toe
"Oh dear!" said the monkey
and off he sped
to get better soon
in his nice warm bed.
Three little monkeys
swinging far and near
one fell over
and bumped his ear
"Oh dear!" said the monkey
and off he sped
to get better soon
in his nice warm bed.
Two little monkeys
swinging far ahead
one fell down
and bumped his head
"Oh dear!" said the monkey
and off he sped
to get better soon
in his nice warm bed.
One little monkey
swinging on his own
he looked for his friends
and they'd all gone home.
"Oh dear!" said the monkey
and off he sped
to snuggle up safe
in his nice warm bed.
Author notes
Another one I'd like to make into a children's book.
For my little one due in October. Already a monkey!

This is precious! It reminds me of a song we sung as kids. I don’t know if you’ve heard it but it goes like this:
Five little monkeys jumping on the bed,
One fell off and bumped his head.
Mama called the Doctor and the Doctor said,
"No more monkeys jumping on the bed!"
Four little monkeys jumping on the bed,
One fell off and bumped her head.
Papa called the Doctor and the Doctor said,
"No more monkeys jumping on the bed!"
Three little monkeys jumping on the bed,
One fell off and bumped his head.
Mama called the Doctor and the Doctor said,
"No more monkeys jumping on the bed!"
Two little monkeys jumping on the bed,
One fell off and bumped her head.
Papa called the Doctor and the Doctor said,
"No more monkeys jumping on the bed!"
One little monkey jumping on the bed,
He fell off and bumped his head.
Mama called the Doctor and the Doctor said,
"Put those monkeys straight to bed!"
Great work!
Love,
Amera♥

Oh yes! This was actually modelled on that very poem! I was at nursery one day (as I'm a nursery nurse by trade) and decided to write a new childrens rhyme with the kids. I've been quite naughty here and have not given them the credit for their part...
