"Oh! Please don't eat me!"
said the beetle
dashing 'neath the forest leaves.
"I'm much too crunchy
with my hard shell.
Won't you please just let me be?"
"You cannot eat me!"
said the earthworm
sneaking back into his hole.
"I'm far too wriggly
for your belly!
On your way! Now let me go!"
"I would not eat me!"
said the spider
weaving on her silver web
"I'd tickle inside
with my eight legs!
Go find someone else instead!"
"Oh! Don't you eat me!"
said tiny ant
scurrying into his nest
"There's not much to me
and I fidget!
Go elsewhere is my request!"
"Well, you could eat me"
said bumblebee
resting in the flower bed
"But I'd be careful
of my tail's sting.
There must be something else ahead!"
"I thank you dear friends"
said little rabbit
nibbling on a nearby leaf
"but I don't eat meat
like you insects."
And they all sighed with relief!
