Perhaps to love is to learn
to see the world better.
To know that there is more to learn
than you have ever known,
to be calm like the ocean, and call back
every desire just like it emerged.
To learn to be.
To break away from we who keep singing
in a voice that is never ours; from we who
are hungry for our own souls.
Perhaps to love is to learn
there is little that does not teach,
and that you too shall grow from the ashes,
from the darkness,
into the light,
into the essential body of redemption.
Author notes
Yes yes, reminds you of Octavio Paz. Inspired by his "Coda". Green is the colour of renewal, hope and eternal life. A shade of newness, the colour Tara gave me.
I think its time for me to happy up. And feel the spring. The title is opposed to Paz's title, "Coda" that in music, means something like the ending composition.

learning never ceases dear, you are your own teacher and taught in this uncharted voyage. Learning keeps you young. a learner in old man is young, and young without learner is old..poem packed with wisdom

I really like this....but it does not have your usual imagery that is in your poems...it is a lot of telling & not too much showing...it's beautiful, though, soft, and your thoughts conveyed here are excellent...
"Perhaps to love is to learn
there is little that does not teach," - I love this...so true!!
thanks for your entry..

I think you have handled these very broad themes, love, knowledge, desire, the primal significance of the ocean, student, and redemption, with a subtle grace and maturity, that is to me, brilliant. I'm in love with the wisdom and elegance of this piece. Thank you Namita for your poetry. Geo

Elegant, wise and ab-soul-utly exquisite. Dharma revealed.

-To break away from we who keep singing
in a voice that is never ours;
yes. very true.

This is a lovely poem, calm and reflective, with superb word choice and a spirit of growth, of renewal. I liked in particular the allusion to the phoenix.

-
My life - this is excellent!!!!
Love it especially - to be calm like the ocean, and call back
every desire just like it emerged.

You've got beautiful poetic abstractions that I couldn't have even dreamt of when I was your age. Your words truly are something brilliant!

I simply love the colour green. Don't think I could write anything good inspired by a different colour.
You have it so well! The prelude of something different and new, our own renewal, changes that come from deep inside.
Love the depth of your poem...your thoughts.
Wonderful as the colour of hope

Awesome write young lady.
This is a piece that'll calm the senses and make me feel the prelude, the divine presence of love and life.
Yes, I see Paz and a poet as good as him
Keep showering us with your gift of writing.
Thanks my friend.

the sheer gracefulness and wisdom of your poetry makes me wonder (look forward to) what brilliance your pen shall weave in ten, twenty years time. I agree with Nicolette...your books will someday sit on the shelves amongst the likes of Paz, Neruda etc...

See, this is why you too will have a contest. I am going in random order; but you WILL have one. So beautiful, such truth in the lines.
You have so much wisdom and I wish you well with it Namita.

Oh its so nice to see your face, and such a pretty one it is too
...This is just lovely and full of wisdom. It made me feel a pang of conscience that I have not yet written my letter to my foster child in Africa this month, that is very naughty and you have made me redress it...off to write to him now.

I'm sitting here in my office and I'm speechless. This is such a profound, poignant piece of writing, Namita. Yes, very Paz-like and i can only bow to this!
Simply wonderful, talented, wise, beautiful one. I love Paz's work and love yours - someday you are going to be as famous as him...mark my words!!
and yes, the sounds of green >> life, renewal, growth, eternal spring.
