Last night I took a lovely stroll
down the lanes of an historian museum
I got to search and stare at every corner
and every place that laid between the lines of love
The way his chocolate covered pecan skin
covers all the inches of his mouth filled with words
That dictionaries haven't dared to think of yet
That's right
This was a cat who knew how to eradicate his victims...
his words would cut like razor blade knives
But last night his language spoke of passion
wrapped in lyrical rhythm and blues
In which he liked to call "The Weary Blues"
just another reason why we love to sing to a melancholy tune
Bluesy jazz is what he called it
He said it was the black man's calling
his depression and his repression
But all I knew that I rather be a sitting duck
and listen to his stream of lyrical wordplay
Wrap around every corner of my carmel filled passion
and wonder why I could never uncover such words
that make simplicity a bitch

Author notes
Langston Hughes is my favorite poet....probably of all time and I wanted to give him this fittening tribute. My love affair with Hughes started long ago. I was only 10 when I read his first poem....and it was love at first sight
Any advice would be lovely?

Omg I would have married Langston. I thought he was soooo hot and he had such a mind. You're a beautiful poet!!!! I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt this way. I would hold poetry readings in college and I'd just read him until my jaw was sore!!!!
