Independence

Why can't you just let me be?
You know I've always been independent.
So just let me take a few risks,
and figure out who I am.
Too much pressure can kill a person, you know.
Too long I've followed your rules
and I haven't learned to set any for myself.
When will the day come you can let me go?
When can I learn how to fly?
Or will I always be nailed to the ground?
Don't worry, I can take care of myself.
