Medusa's Heart

A wretched woman, was she,
Some claimed she was a witch;
Who had cast a spell that backfired.
Snake-like skin that would come
In pair with her snakes for hair;
One look from her coldest stare
Would turn even the boldest
To stone.

She once looked into a mirror,
As fine as anything, stolen from the
Gods' beautiful and fair of maidens.
She hissed and thought to herself,
"How dare they not love my skin of fair,
And my beautiful hair which wraps 'round
The most lovely of all faces throughout
This land of people with no heart..."
Soon, after looking into her reflection,
She let out a gasp as her heart turned
To stone.
