I can see a beautiful blue sky looking up among these canyon walls,
As I step onward into the fine flowers ahead,
Nothing on my mind,
No worries,
No fears,
Just the beauty laid out before me all around.
So many things here that have been untouched,
Many memories of fields and streams,
Filled with so much life and happiness,
To share with the world outside these canyon walls.
It makes me think of the Grand Canyon in all her fame and glory,
Being overlooked and watched to tell her story,
Yet nobody knows the true beauty she holds,
When once the rivers flowed so strong in the winters,
No longer flows among us in the summers.
A beauty held here within these canyon walls,
Butterflies fluttering by and telling us to go,
They don't want to be interrupted by the loggers,
All they ask is to be rejected for peace and quite for goodness sakes.
As you look overhead from your helicopters,
Glance down at the marigolds,
As they glimmer in the summer sun,
Calling to be watered,
The breeze blowing through the grass,
Making it whisper and howl.
A day as fresh as any to be shared with the whole world,
Don't you wish you could grab a flower to put within your hair?
To see the dancing butterflies upon the flowers,
And the canyon walls calling you in closer,
To share with you their story,
Of the land which prevails here.

Lovely. I think all untouched land by man could be this beautiful, don't you. A very well written piece of poetry. Thank you for sharing.

Lovely. I adore marvelling at natures beauty and get frustrtated when it is marred by humanity. The grand canyon is one of those places which, money allowing, I would love to visit but until then you can look for me in our local woods.
