Is It Over, Dear?

I lost my long-time 'telephone buddy'
his last words pricked my very heart.
For he'd a long time ago told me,
that the two of us would never, ever part.

But, apparently some minor things change;
I suppose they can't forever stay the same.
Now I'm out here alone in left field range.
With my torn, bleeding heart going insane.

It's a blessed thing, I suppose, indeed,
that I had some of his messages in-keyed.
So my 'playback' button with super-speed,
captures his voice with mild over-feed.

Yes, its a hapless, thank-less task for me
my phone lover's gone intermittently?
And, the broken-hearted club charges a fee
So, I self-care with slightly-soiled dignity.

Lots of people found in my shoes would say
Get on with your life, you're getting stuck
But they fail to comprehend my total disarray
How I never once learned how to pass the buck.

So, I sit here in misery; feeling all alone
by a phone that simply sits but doesn't ring.
Sometimes just listening to the dry dial tone;
hoping this to be the day we re-do our thing.

    Aww, this is really sad. I've never tried one of those phone-buddy places, but I hope you find a real friend to spend time with. It would be a shame for you to use up all your delicious wit on a phone friend and AllPoetry. Thanks for the entry, dear. Patricia
