Pulled in different directions,
like the roots of the tree.
Trying hard to forget,
lingering on the words spoken.
Hatred dripped from your lips,
without a moments pause.
I'm left to pick up the pieces,
of the hollow woman you've left behind.
Years can pass with hours and days,
yet the tears still flow like rivers.
I want to move on, I need it!
To put the past in the past.
Forgive you, I did, a long time ago.
So that I could move on and heal.
Just like the roots of that tree,
determination to stad strong and tall.
As life moves on and moments pass,
the journey begins with me.
Author notes
This is my first write in quite awhile. I saw this pic and read the quote, and to me surviving it does not make it o.k. it makes us stronger!

This was so beautiful and I am glad to see that you are back on track and writing those feelings out instead of internalizing them!! You are so correct..The journey begins with us and we need to be strong enough to take that first step!! This was very well done and best wishes!!!
