from a desolate paradise,
silver-encrusted children awaken;
spawned by their lustrous mother,
they grieve in black-tinted tears.
longing for an escape from restriction,
now-adolescent glitter dances around darkness
attention starved, they shine brighter hoping to be seen,
but their fragile beams melt into a universe full of faces.
anticipating to be noticed, their glossy exterior dims with passage of time;
previous sun's reflection ages to a mere bleached glow.
the weakened determination to blaze the sky is apparent,
still cosmic smiles give way to nature's solemn hourglass.
their light diminishes, as everyone's does in due time;
self-combusting into thin air, they wish for the next to be beloved unlike them.
