If you truly believe in a higher power,
Then I ask of you…why do you cry?
She may no longer be with us…this much is true
But in the end it is what’s best for her.
She met and contributed to all the lives she needed to
And now, her time at peace hast began,
Where she is finally at home
And free of this burden we call life.
Crying out of sorrow is self-pity,
Just saying that she is no longer here with us,
The essence of selfishness is to be ours or to be the only ones with it
But if we can accept that not everything or anything for that matter is really ours’
Then those tears of sorrow will redefine
And become tears of relief
As we realize that she is no longer in suffering and that she has provided us more wisdom than any of us could have ever imagined, both through life and through death she shall remain a teacher, a preacher of life, hospitality, wisdom, and above all else love.
Though we miss her and mourn,
All we can do is learn that through life is wisdom born
And remember her for who she was, is, and forever will be and how much better our lives are for being graced with her presence.
Forever and always we must remember.
NO.
We WILL remember,
What she has instilled within each and every one of us.
Then I ask of you…why do you cry?
She may no longer be with us…this much is true
But in the end it is what’s best for her.
She met and contributed to all the lives she needed to
And now, her time at peace hast began,

Author notes
This is the speech that i gave at my great grandmothers funeral this afternoon and i felt like it could be wide spread to express to other people how stong life is and why you should never cry to a lost one out of sorrow or misery or even pain for that matter.

"hast begun". I don't really like that usage. Plain ordinary "has" would be better.
Interesting point you make when you say no one is really ours but I think "crying out of sorrow is self pity" is a bit strong. In any case, it's a nice tribute.
Thank you for entering. -
How sad; losing a loved one is very difficult. It gives me the impression that you handled the death well, thinking logically about the death o you grandmother and its meaning. This speech is absolutely beautiful. BTW, out of curiosity, do you believe in a higher power?
