There's a certain poignant beauty
about flowers in the Spring;
though ephemerals, like love and life,
they misdoubt what time might bring.
The promise in a budding rose
illuminates the day ...
and even snipped by pruning shears,
may dower a bouquet.
So ... though this bloom won't last for years,
it makes the world a brighter place,
as dew envelopes that corsage
in gossamer ... and lace ... .

As I read this, I could almost see a bridal bouquet, the mention of gossamer and lace also brought images of a dewy spiders web in the early morning. Very nicely done! short and sweet.

beautiful images
I like the thoughts, inklings of eternity and timeless beauty. I enjoyed reading.

I don't think I'm a 'idjit' so I'll risk a comment. lol
Yellow happens to be one of my favourite colour in flowers, roses included.
There is something special about a rose bud with the promise that it holds and as you said
even snipped by pruning shears, they unfold their beauty in a vase or bouquet.
good luck in the contest

I thought I had changed that ...
I had several people following me around making inane comments on my poems. That was the reason I'd posted that on some of them -- stalkers, actually, was what they were. They've been put on my block list now, so I don't have to bother with them any more.

Beautiful, I love the last verse. Most flowers benifit from pruning and so do we, we get the fresh cut flowers in the house and new ones bloom in the garden.
I love your background, it reminds me of wallpaper my gram use to have in a bedroom. It's beautiful.

mmmm...This one is yummy! The continuity of the bloom suggested is grand! From bud on plant, to bloom in vase, and often dried and saved between the pages of a book...Congratulations on the Bronze.

Hmmm, not sure if I'm a total idiot or not . . . the jury's still out!
I found this utterly beautiful. Like you i find such depth and meaning in the glory of a flower. And the added touch here is the eternal nature of that glory, long after the bloom has faded--I found that idea most captivating, and encouraging. Lovely, lovely thoughts.

Beautiful write, brother. Just finished reading something fanciful. This is truly a wonderful way to relax from a hard day. Write on and good luck. One.
